What this tool can and cannot tell you
- It looks for the credentials, marks and records Castmanor adds to the files its AI makes or alters.
- "No Castmanor provenance found" does not mean a file was not made by AI. Other tools make AI files too, and marks can be lost when a file is re-saved or re-encoded.
- Small edits such as changing brightness, contrast or colour, sharpening, resizing, scaling, cropping, converting the file format, or removing background noise from audio are not treated as altering a file.
- Other tools that read content credentials may show "unknown signer" for our files, because our signing certificate is not on their trust lists. This tool checks files against our published root certificate.

Privacy
The file or link you give is used only to answer this check. A file is held on our servers only while it is checked and is deleted seconds after the check; if a step fails, a cleanup job removes it within ten minutes. We do not keep personal information from this tool. To stop abuse, a rate limiter holds a scrambled form of your network address in memory for up to one minute. We count checks (the outcome, the kind of file, a size range) without recording who made them. Our network provider handles connection data, such as your IP address, to deliver this page and protect it from misuse.
